Start with three things: the recorded administrator, any Russian branch accreditation, and the registrar’s own verification process. A UK Ltd with no accepted direct route can ask whether a verified trustee may be recorded as administrator through a formal change. Business control then rests on the agreement rather than on the register. Each domain’s renewal date sets how quickly the paperwork has to be ready.

Does an accredited branch change the answer?
Sometimes it does. An accredited branch in Russia may open a direct organisation-account route for a UK company, which removes the intermediary question entirely. Without qualifying presence, the thing to put to the registrar is whether it can accept an eligible verified administrator instead. Be clear about what that does: a trustee arrangement changes who the register names as administrator. It does not turn a UK company’s ordinary contact details into an ESIA account.
Handling a portfolio you already hold
A transfer of registrar and a change of administrator are two operations — both may be needed, neither implies the other, and asking for one does not get you the other. Confirm the holder record and the expiry date on each name before you decide which you are actually requesting.
The stated company route uses a notarised Russian-language application on letterhead, registration evidence with a Russian translation, and proof that the signatory is authorised. Your current registrar confirms its own formalities on top of that, so ask it directly. A portfolio rarely moves as a single unit, because the expiry dates behind it are rarely the same.
Allow for the switchover without relying on it
The rules have been in force since September 2026. Some registrar transitions may still run until 18 January 2027 at the latest, which is the point at which people relax. That date is not a promise that every domain can wait for it. If a name is due for renewal, or needs a DNS change, ask your registrar now what its current procedure is.
The first year, and every year after it
Atak Domain quotes USD 69.98 where the domain is already under its management, or USD 109.97 where a registrar transfer is needed as well. From year two the quoted annual trustee fee is USD 99. Confirm the final amount at checkout.
Price settled, agree the operating terms in writing: who authorises DNS changes, who pays the renewals, who receives notices, and who may instruct an exit to another eligible administrator. That last one is easiest to negotiate before you sign.
